Privacy Policy
Last updated: 14 July 2026
Flait ("Flait", "we", "us" or "our") provides an AI-powered meal-planning, grocery price comparison and nutrition app for Australian users. This Privacy Policy explains what personal information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the rights you have over it. We are committed to handling your information in accordance with the Australian Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles (APPs).
By creating an account or using the app, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use Flait.
1. Information we collect
We collect the following categories of information:
- Account information — your email address, name and the password credential you set when you register.
- Profile and health information — details you choose to provide to personalise your plans, including body weight, allergens and intolerances, dietary preferences (e.g. vegan, halal, keto), health and fitness goals (e.g. cut, bulk, maintain), household size and weekly grocery budget. Some of this is "sensitive information" (including health information) under the Privacy Act, and we only collect it with your consent and to deliver the service.
- Grocery and price lookups — the products, ingredients and stores you search, compare or add to shopping lists, and the price results returned for them.
- AI chat content — the messages, questions and recipe or meal requests you send to our AI assistant, and the responses generated for you.
- Usage information — how you interact with the app (pages viewed, features used, device and browser type, and log data such as IP address and timestamps), used to keep the service secure and improve it.
2. How we use your information
- Generate personalised meal plans and recipes, which involves sending relevant profile inputs (such as dietary preferences, allergens and goals) to trusted third-party AI processing providers to produce your results.
- Compare grocery prices across retailers and build cost-aware shopping lists.
- Analyse nutritional information and surface ingredient-level cost breakdowns.
- Operate, secure, maintain and improve the app, and provide customer support.
- Comply with our legal obligations and enforce our Terms of Service.
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your sensitive health information for advertising.
3. Third parties and overseas disclosure
We use trusted third-party providers to deliver the service. Some of these providers are located, or process data, outside Australia. We engage them by category of function rather than naming specific vendors, and we may change providers within each category as needed. The categories are:
- Cloud hosting, database and authentication — securely storing your account and profile data and keeping you signed in.
- AI processing — generating your meal plans, recipes, nutrition analysis and assistant responses.
- Recipe and nutrition data — enriching recipes and food items with nutritional information.
- Grocery price and product data — sourcing prices, product details and store availability for comparison.
- Payments — processing subscriptions and any purchases (payment card details are handled by the payment provider; we never receive or store full card numbers).
- Delivery — fulfilling grocery or meal delivery where you choose to use it.
We share only the information necessary for each provider to perform its function. By using features that rely on these providers, you consent to your information being disclosed to them, including overseas, where Australian Privacy Principle 8 may apply. You can request more detail about the providers we currently use by contacting us.
4. Data retention
We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service. If you delete your account, we will delete or de-identify your personal and health information within a reasonable period, except where we are required to retain certain records to meet legal, security or dispute-resolution obligations. Aggregated or de-identified data that cannot reasonably identify you may be retained.
5. Your rights and choices
Under the Australian Privacy Act and, where applicable, the EU GDPR and the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), you may have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct information that is inaccurate or out of date;
- request deletion of your account and personal information;
- export a copy of your data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent for optional processing; and
- make a complaint about how we have handled your information, including to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at oaic.gov.au.
You can update much of your profile and dietary information, or delete your account, directly from the account section of your settings page. For any other request, contact us at privacy@flait.app.
6. Cookies and sessions
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your session, and operate essential app functionality. These are necessary for the app to work. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may prevent you from signing in or using parts of the service.
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information, including encryption in transit, access controls and authentication via our hosting provider. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security. If we become aware of a data breach likely to cause serious harm, we will notify affected users and the OAIC as required under the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme.
8. Children
Flait is intended for users aged 16 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above and, where changes are significant, take reasonable steps to notify you. Continued use of the app after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
10. Contact us
